uPVC windows are made from two different parts. The first is the frame that fits in to the window and the second is the frame that holds the glass. Both are made from uPVC and because the material is durable and has some flex, it makes for an excellent window frame material. Where timber frames can flake, crack and warp, uPVC will remain strong and stable.
The first thing to understand when answering the question of possibly replacing your current windows is that uPVC windows are made up of 3 elements.
This is the soul of the uPVC window and consists of two or sometimes three panes of glass with a gap between them that is either a vacuum or is filled with dehydrated gas to reduce heat transfer and create an airtight sealed unit. A bar is put in place and this holds the glass a fixed distance apart and the sealant is then applied to hold the glass together to stop vapour entering the unit. Ventilation agent is combined into the spacer bar of the unit to capture any dampness that passes through the unit.
The window instruments are the hinges, handles and locks that are attached to both the exterior border and the window edge itself. These also have a great life expectancy.
Subject to Terms and Conditions
uPVC windows are becoming increasingly popular due to the number of benefits they bring. The windows will last a lifetime, with very little maintenance needed at all and at the end of their lifespan they can be recycled, reducing their environmental impact. Some more benefits of the uPVC windows are below:
uPVC does not rot and is resistant to corrosion.
uPVC windows are very low maintenance, the edges don’t require painting or coating which reduces the maintenance required over their lifetime by a considerable amount. They are easily cleaned with water and a damp cloth.
uPVC is a non-conductive material meaning its use in the window frame does not hand over any heat and, consequently, contributes to a more consistent internal temperature for a property.
uPVC windows include a multi-locking system providing a very high level of safety in a home or business.
